Maybe, as we fly to Turkey tomorrow, I need to stop thinking about what is not in Turkey and start focussing on what there is in Turkey. Its a bit cheesy to state the obvious, but I think it's a good place for me to start, God is in Turkey....thankfully. And if He is there, then I can find Him there....fortunately. It is another adventure, but I feel too old for another adventure. I feel a bit like Bilbo Baggins; can't I just stay in the armchair in my very pleasant Hobbit house? I know however that I will meet God in the adventure....faith is never only cerebral, it kind of has to work its way through our lives. Our lives, lived out in the contexts of our times, somehow inform us, and those who watch us, about the character and purposes of God. So I know this adventure is worth the embarking upon. Others will read of God's faithfulness and maybe my unfaithfulnesses and limitations. They will not, however know everything; they will not know of every battle fought, won or lost or of every silent prayer and its answer. So whilst I exist to try to bring some glory to God, it is I who will benefit mostly from this adventure as I discover what there actually is in Turkey.
